This Indis building on Jalan Malioboro number 1, Yogyakarta City is now owned and used as a sub-branch office for BPD DIY. This building was originally a salon for women, and a barbershop for men. This can be seen from the inscription on the north wall of the building, namely: Salon voor Dames — Coiffeur voor Heeren. Unfortunately, the history of the use of this building is not very clear, for several years it was an empty building, not maintained. It was only in 2018 that a recommendation was made to DP2WB DIY for a renovation plan for this building.
The building which is now the BPD DIY Malioboro is well-maintained and neat. However, due to changes in its utilization, several adjustments have been made, including: changing tiles to ceramic tiles, room insulation made of non-permanent materials, modernization of washrooms, kitchens.
Broadly speaking, the architectural form of the building is maintained. The most significant parts of this building and preserved are the geye/storied facade, blinds on the exterior attic, and a pair of stained glass underneath. It should be noted that terraced gevels/gables of this kind were one of the hallmarks of Dutch architecture in the past. Therefore this section must be preserved, as one of the markers of the age of the Philosophical Axis Cultural Heritage Area of the City of Yogyakarta. Apart from that, the ceiling of the old room is still maintained, as well as the columns in the building, as well as the ventilation holes in the building. The adjustments can be seen in the edging of the north side of the building which has been updated with Javanese style rete-rete decoration. Included in the new additions are the words Bank BPD DIY, Digital Lounge, Malioboro, interior layout, and new Indische-style tiles. ***
